WHAT OUR LIFTERS ARE SAYING

KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT TWEAKS TO GET ME TO ADOPT WITHOUT OVERCOMPLICATING THINGS

— Josh (@joshuwole)

I first started working with JJ in late Nov 2019 after getting injured. A few months later I made the switch to full coaching with programming and it’s been the best decision I’ve made in training so far.

JJ is extremely knowledgeable, has a keen eye, and he knows how to assess my individual weaknesses and areas to work on before prescribing me with the drills or exercises to try.

I am enjoying my training under JJ where there is a constant and open two way coach-athlete communication that allows him to really personalise the training program to suit my needs and lifestyle.

I have seen improvements from the basics of bracing to actual lifting and I could not recommend him more to lifters of all levels — whether for beginners to PL or advanced lifters looking to take their training and total to the next level.

his patience, knowledge and support are unmatched

I'm so thankful that Alex has been my coach from the beginning of my powerlifting journey! In 6 months, Alex has coached me from an 80/40/90 totalled, bambi legged fool to 115/80/127.5.

He has supported me through a lingering injury and motivated me to keep training and finding work arounds that kept me still progressing even when unable to do competition lifts — the attention to detail he gives his you and programmes — both for injury and meet peak (and everything in between) always make you feel accomplished and proficient, whatever the situation.

Together, we have worked to a stage where if he programmes something I thought outlandish, I know he wouldn't ask me to do anything i wasn't capable of, and this rings true for meet day also.

helped me hit huge milestones, one of them being getting silver at the Commonwealths

Peej took my lifting to the next level. He advanced my knowledge on lifting and technique, improving all 3 of my lifts. He genuinely cares about you and your lifting, and he has endless amounts of knowledge. 100% recommend Battalion Barbell.

I have been under JJ for about 2 years now, and I can say that going to JJ was one of the best choices in my powerlifting journey. I could see his passion in the sport, and knowledge in combining the science of the sport with the art of coaching. JJ’s coaching is unique as he uses accessory movements to fix weak points in the lift and utilizes PRI movement prep in his athletes.

Other than helping me progress through the years, JJ has also coached me in a way that I could use powerlifting to make me a better person. I think one of biggest skills that I have learnt through JJ is that life is not all about winning and it is more of giving my honest effort in everything that I do. On top of that, JJ also gives quick replies for technique feedback on WhatsApp. I personally feel that this is useful, as it allows the lifter to communicate better with Coach.

Lastly, JJ also educates himself hard, building his knowledge in this sport, being under him for 2 years, I can really see how more knowledgeable he has gotten through the years. Seeing him attending mentor calls every now and then on Instagram reminds me of his effort and dedication in this sport.

JJ is the real deal. Before working with him, I've always been intrigued by the amount of detailed and informative knowledge he shares on social media.

After plateauing for more than 2 years, I finally decided to sign up to his team and god that was the best decision I've made for my powerlifting journey. His programs are well structured, taking into account the finest of details, and the besttttt part of his coaching? The voice notes he sends on technical advice after reviewing your lifting vids (hearts eye emoji but no homo) - all the What, Whys, Whens, Hows etc.

After two weeks of working with him, my technique in all the lifts, including accessories skyrocketed (Yes, he would also comment on your accessories as well, that's the amount of care you will get). I am a much better lifter than I was before, and I am still learning about my own body every time I speak to him. I very much look forward to seeing what I can achieve with him.
